I think the biggest story not being told right now is that the
Health Care Reform Act has been tremendously successful in the states that actually cared enough about their citizens to implement
their own exchanges. Yes, the website issues have been a fiasco, but many states preferred to defer implementation to the
feds at the last minute, doing a great disservice to the millions who could immediately benefit from this new legislation.
The minority opposition to health care reform is laying down as many obstacles as possible to submarine this initiative, but
Americans need to take the time to consider the benefits of the new laws before passing judgement.
The rollout has been bumpy, no thanks to political operatives and lobbyists in the public and private
sector who chose to sabotage and impede the process for selfish motives. Like social security, medicaid, and medicare, I believe
that once the public experiences the real benefits and protections afforded by the new laws they'll like what they see, but
lobbyists and politicians will continue to cause as much fear and confusion as possible to undermine and destroy health care
reform.
As with all legislation, there's no doubt in
my mind that there are provisions in the Affordable Health Care Act that may cause unintended negative consequences, but congress
needs to work in a bipartisan manner to improve and amend the bill instead of feverishly working to destroy it. The legislators
who are working to eliminate health care reform have absolutely no alternative to improve health care in this country except
to recycle the same old stale ideas that do little to help American families, and they prefer to give all of the power and
control to health insurance monopolies who are pouring millions into misinformation campaigns to derail this initiative.
The worst part about the attacks on health care reform is that the opposition
has absolutely no intention of supporting any legislation that would greatly improve the lives of their constituents. They're
beholden to big money corporate interests and care little about the everyday working class citizens they represent. This is
shameful, and I hope that enough Americans see through the partisan smokescreens to understand that the majority of the Affordable
Health Care Act is meant to help all Americans have access to basic health care.
Give this law a chance, and don't let those who have plenty of money to afford all the health care
they need make the decision to deprive you and your families of basic health care. Put your family first, not your politics.
Don't be fooled by those who want insurance companies to be able to hold you over a barrel and abuse your rights.
If you actively oppose health care reform and it fails, then I don't want
to hear you cry about how you lost your home and your family's future because of a major illness. Just like the economic crash
caused by the last administration that you probably voted for twice, you'll get exactly what you deserve, and it will be your
fault... again.
I'm tired of ignorant people causing
damage to this country because they're not smart enough to question the motives of those they vote for. The Affordable Health
Care Act may not be perfect, but at least this administration cares enough about the American people to try to improve health
care instead of just complaining about it. I have yet to hear Ted Cruz and his band of fools come up with any reasonable
alternative to fix our broken health care system.
Constant
attacks and obstruction without presenting any reasonable constructive solutions is nothing but lazy politics, and that's
why the GOP has lost all credibility. Why don't these people get to work for the American people instead of just engaging
in a permanent political campaign. They're elected to govern, and the House majority has failed the American people miserably
with their do nothing strategy when there's obviously plenty of work to be done.
Be smart and question the motives of those who are trying to convince you that your family doesn't
need affordable health care. Once the kinks are worked out of the website and the legislation you'll see that health care
reform is a good thing for you and your families.
