Leave the Fairgrounds Alone!Yesterday evening I spoke to a local businessman who explained
to me why the mayor and his cronies won't stop trying to destroy the Fairgrounds and the events associated with that public
complex. Apparently this lot (approx 110 acres) is one of the last big plots of undeveloped land in the metro area, and several
parties are competing to get their hooks into this property. I tried to explain how valuable the Fairgrounds were to many
in the community, but the conversation kept leading in the direction that sooner or later corporate interests will eventually
get their way. How do you explain to people
who's only interest in life is to make money that some things are better left alone for the sake of history and the greater
good? This property should be left alone as it is, and those who love the Fairgrounds need to keep a watchful eye on
anyone coming up with plans to close down the Fairgrounds and replace it with more office buildings that we really don't need
in this city. I think the proposals such as turning
the property into a public park or another amusement park is just a smokescreen to get the wrecking ball started on this property.
Once the buildings and racetrack are gone they would most likely scrap the plan they sold to the general public and move on
with the plans for commercial development. I'm not from Nashville, but I do see the value and wonderful history of the
Fairgrounds. Those greedy folks who have no regard for anything except money cannot be allowed to take take such a treasure
away from Nashville behind closed doors. The mayor wants
the Fairgrounds destroyed and will do anything he can to make this happen, including removing names from last year's "Save
the Fairgrounds" petitions that weren't residents of Davidson county. He had no right to do so since the Fairgrounds
are for "state functions", therefore anyone in the state of Tennessee should've been able to sign that petition
without having their name removed. Mayor, you are
shameless... I hope this comes back to bite you in the ass!

Titans look mediocre todayThe Titans gave a disappointing performance today, and at times
looked like they're lacking communication between the QB and his recievers. I think what we're seeing is the growing pains
of a new coaching staff and new QB, and hopefully as the season moves on we'll see improvements overall. Johnson looked like he might have a great day on the first series, but
it didn't take long for the Steelers to make the necessary adjustments to shut him down for the rest of the afternoon. The
run blocking at this point is suspect, and I still don't understand why more inside running plays can't be used with a dual
backfield. Ringer is a great straight ahead runner and a dual backfield allows for more options. Many times I saw Johnson open in the flats and couldn't understand why Hasselbeck won't give him
some quick passes as the primary reciever. Obviously every team in the NFL is stacking up against the run to stop Johnson,
so why not use more plays with short routs that gets Johnson past the the 1st level and make the linebackers pay for playing
tight to the line. Despite the score, the defense actually
didn't look too bad. I think the problem had more to do with offensive time of posession and bad penalties than anything else.
The defense can't carry this team every single week, especially if the offense can't capitalize on turnovers and big plays.
I'm hopeful that the Titans can put in some good work
during their bye week and maybe we'll see some life in the running game when they play again in two weeks. A 3-2 record is
nothing to complain about, but there are glaring issues on the offensive side of the ball that will keep this team at about
.500 for the rest of the season if they can't get on track.
